15 Roscommon Projects Funded by Community Climate Action Programme

Roscommon County Council is delighted to announce the allocation of €473,508.16 to 15 Roscommon projects under Phase 2 of the Community Climate Action Programme Stand 1.

Cathaoirleach of Roscommon, Cllr Liam Callaghan congratulated the successful projects with the following remark:

“I extend my congratulations to the communities that have secured funding under the DCEE Community Climate Action Programme. This investment will support 15 communities across the county, with over €470k allocated to local climate action projects. I also commend all groups who applied and encourage those who were not successful in this phase to continue engaging and to apply for future opportunities”.

Making the announcement of funding for projects across Ireland, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Mr. Darragh O’Brien said:

"Communities across Ireland are leading the way in climate action, delivering practical projects that reduce emissions, strengthen local resilience and improve quality of life. I am delighted to announce the successful projects under this latest phase of the Community Climate Action Programme, and to provide a further €2.6 million to ensure even more of these ambitious community projects can move forward. "This programme empowers communities to take meaningful local action on climate change, while also contributing to our national climate and energy goals. The scale of interest and quality of applications received demonstrates the commitment of communities nationwide to building a cleaner, more sustainable future."

Mairead McKeon Moore, Community Climate Action Officer with Roscommon County Council, says the work of local communities is having a positive effect on climate efforts across the county: 

“This funding marks an important milestone in supporting community-led climate action across the county. The large volume of applications highlights the growing enthusiasm among local communities to build resilience and take meaningful steps towards sustainability.”
