Traveller Accommodation
The Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998 requires Local Authorities in consultation with Travellers to prepare and adopt a Traveller Accommodation Programme to meet the existing and projected accommodation needs of Travellers. The drawing up of the programme is assisted by the Local Traveller Consultative Committee representative of Travellers, Members of the Council and Council Officials.
Roscommon County Council adopted a five-year Traveller Accommodation Programme 2019 - 2024 at the June 2019 Plenary Meeting under Section 10 of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998.

Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme 2025-2029
In accordance with the provision of Section 9 of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998, Roscommon County Council hereby gives notice that it has prepared a Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme for the period 2025-2029, to replace the existing Traveller Accommodation Programme 2019-2024, which is due to expire on 31st December, 2024.
A copy of the Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme 2025-2029 will be available for inspection during the public opening hours at Roscommon County Council, Housing Business Unit, Áras and Chontae, Roscommon, Municipal District Area Offices of Boyle, Roscommon and Athlone and Branch Libraries, Roscommon, Castlerea, Boyle, Strokestown, Elphin & Ballaghaderreen for a period of Two Months from the date of this Notice - up to 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday the 28th August, 2024.
