Mysterious Monuments
Now that you may have time to find out more about a site or monument you have always been curious about why not use the new Monument Research Tool Kit and see what you can find out about a mysterious monument? There’s only one catch - the monument must be in Co. Roscommon.

The Monument Research Tool Kit https://www.heritagecouncil.ie/content/files/Adopt-a-Monument-Research-Toolkit.pdf will show you how to research heritage, history and stories from the comfort of your own home. It gives pointers on how to get started and outlines the vast amount of information that is available online to help along the way. The toolkit lists lots of online resources you can use to find out more about your monument.
You do not need to be an expert to do this. This is your own research journey. Let’s see where it takes you!
Not all monuments are castles, cathedrals or prehistoric tombs - they can be lime kilns, cottages, handball alleys, walled gardens and other more recent and humble structures. Now is your chance to find out more!
When you have found out as much as you can about your Mysterious Monument, let us know what you discovered!
You can present the information you have found out in any format you choose – in a written report, a PowerPoint presentation, a slide show, a video or a podcast. The video or podcast must be a maximum of 5 minutes long. Email your project and completed application form to heritage@roscommoncoco.ie by 29th May 2020. Roscommon County Council will share your monument research on its social media and on its website. #roscommonheritageonline #loveyourheritage #inthistogether #stayconnected
