Community Monuments Fund 2026

Roscommon County Council in conjunction with the National Monuments Service within the Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage are inviting applications for the “Community Monuments Fund 2026”.
The Community Monuments Fund is prioritised for private owners and custodians and community groups for the care, conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of archaeological monuments.
The core aims of the Fund are the conservation, maintenance, protection and presentation of archaeological monuments. It will:
- enable conservation works to be carried out on monuments which are deemed to be significant and in need of urgent support;
- build resilience in our monuments to enable them to withstand the effects of climate change;
- encourage access to monuments and improve their presentation.
The Community Monuments Fund has 3 Streams:
Stream 1 is aimed at essential repairs and capital works for the conservation of archaeological monuments
Stream 2 is for development of Conservation Management Plans/Reports/Assessments and detailed Specification of Works aimed at identifying measures for conservation and maintenance of archaeological monuments.
Stream 3 is for enhancement of access infrastructure, interpretation projects and small scale emergency conservation works at archaeological monuments.
Roscommon County Council may submit up to 2 valid projects under each stream to the Department for consideration. You must attach a comprehensive Method Statement and any other required documentation with your application.
