Litter Pollution and Anti-Litter Initiatives

Litter pollution is the most visible form of pollution and its presence immediately creates a negative impression. The reduction of litter pollution through enforcement and education is a priority for Roscommon County Council.

Roscommon County Council employs two full time Litter Wardens, and an Environmental Awareness Officer who on the one hand enforces the Litter Act, and on the other, educates in relation of litter.

A number of anti litter initiatives are organised annually and further information on these or any aspect of litter can be obtained from the Environment Department at 090-6637100 or environment@roscommoncoco.ie
