Roscommon Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP)
Introducing Roscommon Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP)
The safety of everyone living, visiting and working in our community is of paramount importance and the Roscommon Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is an exciting new approach being rolled out as a cross government initiative lead by the Department of Justice in line with the Policing, Security and Community Safety act 2024. The establishment of a safety partnership in each Local Authority will put a significant focus on the actions that need to be taken to improve community safety overall.
Imagine a community that is safe, vibrant, exciting to live and do business in, welcoming to everyone and passionate about safety for all. Now include Roscommon into the previous line and you have what the Local Community Safety partnership in Roscommon is going to strive to achieve. An inclusive, inviting initiative that will be community focused to help make Roscommon a safer place to live, work and enjoy. The physical environment of our County is beautiful and the LCSP intend to work from this with all stakeholders to make everything about safety a central focus for everyone in Roscommon. The LCSP will listen to the community, listen to statutory bodies, listen to public representatives, listen to local groups, listen to educators and hear what their ideas and thoughts are regarding safety. From this collaborative approach, the LCSP committee will develop a community safety strategy for Roscommon that will be implemented to achieve its identified objectives.
LCSP will give local people a stronger voice to identify and tackle community safety issues.
How will it work best for the Roscommon community?

The LCSP is a collaborative approach to improving safety within a community by bringing together various local agencies, organisations, and stakeholders. The goal is to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors in Roscommon through coordinated efforts and shared resources.
Roscommon LCSP is currently in its early stages of development and Roscommon County Council have recently appointed Patrick Flanagan, as the Community Safety Coordinator and Niamh Duffy as the Community Safety Administrator. In the coming months, it is expected that the formation of the partnership committee will be completed.
We are asking all groups that are interested in engaging with the LCSP to email us your email details to Communitysafety@roscommoncoco.ie
