Lexia Core5 Reading

Lexia Core5 Reading is suitable for primary school children and is an adaptive blended learning program that accelerates the development of literacy skills for students of all abilities, helping them make that critical shift from learning to read to reading to learn. It provides a systematic and structured approach to six critical areas of reading:

Phonological Awareness

  • Phonics
  • Structural Analysis
  • Automaticity/Fluency
  • Vocabulary
  • Comprehension

Core5 includes instructional materials and resources to ensure all students receive personalised and comprehensive instruction and practice in all skill areas. Lexia Lessons, Lexia Skill Builders, and Lexia Connections are designed to be used in conjunction with online learning activities. These materials can be incorporated into classroom routines in a variety of ways, including whole-class instruction, small group activities, and independent work. The program creates personalised learning paths for students of all abilities through an adaptive placement and scaffolded activities that align to rigorous standards.

Roscommon Library Service will provide licences to teachers and individuals who require additional support in developing the literacy needs of their students. This new online literacy service complements the already highly successful TTRS service on offer to schools and individuals.

Lexia PowerUp Literacy

Lexia PowerUp Literacy is suitable for post-primary children and adults. It accelerates basic reading abilities, as well as developing the higher order strategies required to comprehend increasingly complex texts. This online programme aims to enhance English Language instruction and drive the academic success of users. It offers personalised instruction in the following areas: Word Study, Grammar and Comprehension.

Lexia PowerUp Literacy accelerates literacy gains for students who are at risk of not passing exams. Designed for today’s adolescent or adult learner, students receive personalised placement and instruction in Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension skills.

Public Access PCs

Library members have access to PCs located throughout our branch library network. As well as providing access to the internet, these PCs also provide access to Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint).

Printing from the computers is also available for 20c for an A4 black & white page or 90c for A4 colour prints.

 Photocopying

The library service has photocopiers in all branches and the cost for black and white copies is 20c for an A4 sheet and 60c for an A3 sheet.
