Roscommon County Council are looking to buy houses and suitable premises in towns and villages where there is a need for social and/or special needs housing.
The Scheme also allows for Contractors to sell refurbished vacant & derelict properties to the Local Authority for social Housing use. A pre‑agreed purchase agreement with Roscommon County Council is required before works begin.

- have been vacant as a residence for a continuous period of two or more years
- an ‘over the shop’ property with an ongoing commercial occupancy within the property is permitted.

If you notice a vacant home in your area, you can report this to your local authority using the online form on vacanthomes.ie. The local authority will investigate and, if appropriate, work to bring the vacant home back into use.
