Waste Facility Permits & Certificates of Registration
Waste Facility Permits & Certificates of Registration are issued by Roscommon County Council under the Waste Management (Facility Permit & Registration) Regulations 2007 as amended. They may be issued to persons who wish to undertake certain waste activities within the County.
Waste Facility Permits & Certificates of Registration are required for the following waste activities to include facilities for accepting and / or processing wastes such as:
- the reception, storage and recovery of waste vehicles and immobilised vehicles
the reception, storage and recovery of scrap metal
recovery of excavated material (soil & stone)
reception, storage and recovery of demolition waste
reception, storage and biological treatment of biowaste
the reception, temporary storage and recovery of used batteries
reception, storage and recovery of waste tyres
the storage , treatment and/or recovery of electrical items
reception, temporary storage and recovery of used batteries
Typical activities that require a Waste Facility Permit / Certificate of Registration are:
There is an onus on people to ensure that their waste is only deposited at authorised facilities and it should be noted that it is an offence to deposit waste at a facility that does not have a current and relevant Waste Facility Permit/Certificate of Registration (or a Waste Licence issued by the Environmental Protection Agency).
