Connections to the Public Water Supply and Sewerage Supply
A fee is payable for all individual connections to public water and sewerage schemes e.g. houses, commercial units, offices, shops, agricultural connections etc. This fee includes a road opening licence to carry out the connection. Connections in respect of planning permission applied for on or after 10th March 2004, must apply for a road opening licence as the water and/or sewerage connection charges are included in the Development Contribution Scheme. Starting up a Group Water Scheme
A Group Scheme may be formed when a group of two or more householders get together to provide themselves with a water supply where no such supply already exists. The new group may use a private water source or more usually a connection from the public water main. Grant funding of 85% of the cost subject to a maximum of €6,475.66 per house is available. A group interested in forming a scheme should make an application to Water Services Section using Form GW41.pdf (size 164.7 KB) and a Survey Sheet GW1.pdf (size 116.4 KB) must also be completed.
Secondary Grant for Upgrading Works on Existing Group Schemes
Existing group schemes may apply for grant funding to upgrade their scheme. Grant funding of 85% of the cost subject to a maximum of €6,475.66 per house may be available.

Annual Subsidy
An annual subsidy towards the operational costs of Group Water Schemes in supplying water for domestic use will be payable by Local Authorities to groups meeting the conditions of the subsidy as set out in the Memorandum on Operational Costs.pdf (size 129.5 KB)

Advance payment of the 2007 subsidy can be made on Advance Subsidy Form - WS 2.pdf (size 91.3 KB) where up to 70% of the previous years subsidy can be paid in advance.
Taking in charge of a Group Water or Sewerage Scheme
A Semi private Group Scheme can apply to have their scheme taken in charge of by Roscommon County Council. The scheme will no longer exist and become part of the public mains. The attached forms TIC1.pdf (size 195.7 KB) and TIC2.pdf (size 101.4 KB) should be completed and signed by all members
Individual Well Grant
This grant scheme assists households to provide a piped supply of water for domestic purposes in areas that are not served by public or private water shcemes. Full details of qualifying criteria are outlinded in Explanatory Memo - Individual Water Supply Grant.pdf (size 1.3 MB). The maximum grant payable is €2,031.58 and form Form WG1.pdf (size 184.8 KB).

Grant funding of 85% of the cost subject to a maximum of €2,031.58 per house is available. A group interested in forming a scheme should make an application to Water Services Section using Form GW62.pdf (size 127.3 KB) and a Survey Sheet GW59.pdf (size 118.3 KB) should also be completed.
