Accessibility

At Roscommon County Council we recognise the benefit of having online information and services available to our citizens and see this as an opportunity to enhance the lives of citizens who may otherwise find it difficult to obtain these services.

Our web site has been designed to be accessible, avoiding clutter and providing a consistent navigation methodology throughout the site.

Staff developing the site have attended training courses on Web Design for accessibility.

We welcome any feedback you may have about the site and you may send it to us by emailing webmaster@roscommoncoco.ie.

We endeavour to ensure that this web site complies with all priority 1 and 2 guidelines of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and so reached a Double-A standard of conformance. All pages on the site should validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict or transitional, where possible.

Navigation and Tables

All data tables have summary tags and are coded using row and column titles. A "Skip to Main Content" link is also provided to enable users to move directly to the main content on each page.

Links

Links are written to make sense when read out of context.

Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive Alt attributes.

Visual Design

This web site uses only relatively sized fonts, which allow the user to enlarge the text using that option within their browser. The web site uses Cascading Stylesheets. If your browser does not support stylesheets, the content is designed to be still readable.

Exclusions

The following content is not yet level-AA compliant:

  • All PDF documents
  • eReg (Our online electoral register search system)
  • ePlan (Our online planning search system)
  • Heritage Record of Protected Structures system

If, while using this site, you find other content that you suspect does not conform to the WCAG 1.0 level-AA guidelines, please contact webmaster@roscommoncoco.ie.
