Why do I need a Road Opening Licence?
A Road Opening Licence is required to open/excavate a public road, footpath or grass verge. Before any work is carried out on a public road or footpath the applicant must obtain permission from Roscommon County Council Roads and Transportation Department, Áras an Chontae, Roscommon email: roads@roscommoncoco.ie
How do I apply for a road opening licence?
Road opening licenses in relation to water and/or sewerage connections can be applied for through the Water Services Department 090 66 37100. The Roads and Transportation Department section issue road opening licences in relation to:
- Lowering of Footpaths
- Footpath reconstruction
- Pipelaying etc.
- ESB works
- Telecom works
