Why do I need a Road Opening Licence?

A Road Opening Licence is required to open/excavate a public road, footpath or grass verge. How do I apply for a road opening licence?

Road opening licenses in relation to water and/or sewerage connections can be applied for through the Water Services Department 090 66 37100. The Roads and Transportation Department section issue road opening licences in relation to:

• Lowering of Footpaths
• Footpath reconstruction
• Pipelaying etc.
• ESB works
• Telecom works
