Community Involvement Scheme

This scheme involves the Council seeking the support of local communities for minor improvement and maintenance work on non national roads.

This co-operative approach can have a significant impact in restoring defective roads to a satisfactory condition in an economical manner.

The work includes opening and maintaining drains, removing grass banks to aid road drainage, providing hard stands at field entrances etc.

Communities can also make a financial contribution of 25%  towards road resurfacing work.  The dedication of land to public use free of charge is regarded as the local contribution towards the cost of junction improvements or minor road widening.

The Council may provide materials, plant, equipment and the services of staff to a person or group carrying out works.

Anyone interested in taking part in this scheme should contact the Roads Department, General Office.
