Conservation Grants
The Conservation Grant Scheme assists owners or occupiers of protected structures to undertake necessary repair works to secure the conservation of the property. Under the scheme grants up to 50% of the approved cost of the conservation works, subject to a maximum of €13,000 may be awarded.
The Scheme is advertised in local press in January of each year and applications generally have to be submitted within one month of advertising. Applications are assessed under the following criteria:
Significance
Whether the structure merits conservation
Condition
Determining how urgently the structure requires repair
Use
How the existing and ongoing use has a direct bearing on the continual survival of the structure.
Other conditions
e.g. nature, condition and importance of the structure, economic use of the structure, location and context of the structure, extent to which immediate conservation works might be required to ensure their survival.
