Traveller Accommodation
The Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998 requires Local Authorities in consultation with Travellers to prepare and adopt a Traveller Accommodation Programme to meet the existing and projected accommodation needs of Travellers. The drawing up of the programme is assisted by the Local Traveller Consultative Committee representative of Travellers, Members of the Council and Council Officials.
Roscommon County Council adopted a four-year Traveller Accommodation Programme on 23rd February 2009 under Section 10 of the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998. The new five-year programme covers the period 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2013.
