Would you like to become a firefighter?
Serving as a retained firefighter requires dedication and strong commitment to the welfare of your community. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member of the retained fire service, contact the fire service.
To become a firefighter you need to be:
- between the age of 18-50
- in good health and to have good eyesight
- living & working within a reasonable distance of the Fire Station where you wish to serve
As part of the interview process, verbal and written skills will be tested, as will physical ability to ascend ladders and to work in confined spaces.
A medical examination is required before appointment.
Vacancies are advertised in the local newspapers as they arise in the Fire Service.
