Roscommon Age Friendly Strategy

The aim of the Roscommon Age Friendly Strategy is to improve the lives of all people in County Roscommon as they age and create a county which future generations can reach old age feeling healthier, more positive, and more engaged.

Whilst Roscommon County Council has taken the lead role in respect of developing the strategy, age friendly is a multi agency approach recognising that no one group can respond to the challenges and opportunities that our changing demographic presents. Each organisation has committed to working together to find ways to improve the lives of older people in terms of health, housing, and social and personal well being in their communities. This Partnership approach included input from the following organisations:

  • Roscommon County Council

  • Roscommon Leader Partnership

  • The Health Service Executive, West

  • An Garda Síochána

  • Age Friendly Ireland

  • Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board

  • Older Peoples Council for County Roscommon

  • Department of Social Protection

  • Roscommon Sports Partnership

  • Brothers of Charity Services, Roscommon

  • Roscommon Citizens Information Service

  • Sligo/Leitrim/Roscommon Transport Coordination Unit

  • Muintir na Tire
