Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme
SICAP is a social inclusion programme which will run from 2018 to 2022. The main aims of SICAP are to reduce poverty and promote social inclusion and equality. It will do this by engaging with local communities. It works with the most disadvantaged and hardest to reach in communities including:
children and families from disadvantaged areas,
new communities (including refugees and asylum seekers),
people living in disadvantaged communities,
people with disabilities,
the unemployed (including those not on the Live Register),
low income workers/households,
young unemployed people from disadvantaged areas, and
young people aged 15-24 who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs).
SICAP is overseen and managed by the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) in each local authority area. Each LCDC agrees annual targets for their area based on local needs to ensure the Programme achieves its goals. SICAP is being delivered in Roscommon by Roscommon Leader Partnership.
Roscommon LEADER Partnership Company is delivering the SICAP programme on behalf of Roscommon Local Community Development Committee, which is a committee of Roscommon County Council. The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2018-2022 is funded by the Irish Government through the Department of Rural and Community Development and co-funded by the European Social Fund under the Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.
