Roscommon County Council invites applications for the County Roscommon Pride of Place Competition 2021
Roscommon County Council is currently inviting community groups across County Roscommon to participate in the County Roscommon Pride of Place Competition 2021. Pride of Place is a prestigious All-Island competition and recognises the vast wealth of community contribution to the local society and the creation of civic pride.
Roscommon County Council will nominate one or more groups to the All-Island Pride of Place Competition organised by Co-Operation Ireland. The 2021 Pride of Place competition promises to showcase some of the vast wealth of talent and innovation that characterises community groups throughout County Roscommon. The competition is divided into twelve categories:

Population 0 - 300
Population 300 – 1,000
Population 1,000 – 2,000
Population 2,000 – 5,000
Creative Place Initiative
Community Wellbeing Initiative
Community Tourism Initiative
Islands and Coastal Communities
*An urban neighbourhood is a defined area of a city, town or suburban place
Community groups can only enter the All-Island competition by being nominated by Roscommon County Council. The County Pride of Place competition is open to all communities in County Roscommon with the exception of communities that have been nominated within the last three years. Applications should be made on a town/village/parish basis. Applications received from different groups in the same area may be treated as one application. Groups should, where possible, work together and submit one joint application. Pride of Place emphasises the need for community groups to work together in enhancing their local area and rewards those who demonstrate community co-operation and linkages with public bodies, businesses and agencies.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the All-Island Pride of Place Competition cannot take place in its usual format. Community groups that are entered into the All-Island Pride of Place 2021 competition will be asked to submit a detailed written submission (a template for submissions is available). Community groups will be judged on their detailed submission and will also be provided with an opportunity to elaborate on their submission. Judging will take place between July and August (format to be confirmed).

The closing date for this year’s County Competition is 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 12th May 2021.
