First Step
Norma Smurfit, with a group of like minded people, set up First Step in 1991 as a not for profit organisation. The objective of First Step is to provide micro loan finance (i.e. loans less than �25,000) to projects which cannot access funding (or sufficient funding) from other sources. To date First Step has assisted 1,500 projects. It is estimated these projects created in excess of 3,000 employment opportunities.
