Severe Weather Alert - Update 3rd March 2018
Roscommon County Council have a number of lorries with snowploughs working in the south of the county since 8.00 a.m. this morning with each working on a designated route of local primary roads, and when completed will move to another designated route.
It should be noted difficulties may arise because narrow roads, hills and the volumes of snow/drifts. There are also a number of tractors with blades working on the roads and all crews will work throughout the day.
There is a vast network of local secondary and minor roads, mainly in South Roscommon, that have deep snow and drifts and some minor routes, cul de sacs etc. may prove to be particularly difficult to work on due to access and levels of snow.
The situation will be reassessed this evening and further work planned for tomorrow if necessary.
