RAPID Programme 2017
The Department of Rural and Community Development has reactivated the RAPID (Revitalising Areas by Planning, Investment and Development) programme and has made the sum of €64,500 available to fund capital projects in disadvantaged urban areas/provincial towns. Proposed projects should aim to improve the quality of life for residents in disadvantaged urban areas
Types of projects
Projects or elements of projects of a capital nature may be funded, for example (list indicative but not exhaustive):
- CCTV equipment
- Community gardens
- Public realm improvements
- Youth facilities
- Play/recreation spaces
- Energy efficiency type projects
- Projects in support of the Creative Ireland 2017-2022 initiative.
Roscommon Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) has identified the following High Level Goals contained in the Local Economic & Community Plan (LECP) under which applications will be considered and assessed:

Build and support vibrant local communities and a strong sense of place.
Provide, maintain and enhance strategic infrastructure that supports economic and community development.
Promote Social Inclusion by reducing and alleviating disadvantage, ensuring that all individuals living in County Roscommon feel included, valued and respected.
