N61 Ballymurray to Knockcroghery Road Project

Roscommon County Council (RCC) is working in association with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to develop a scheme to upgrade a 15km section of the N61 National Secondary Route between Ballymurray & Knockcroghery. Six Route Corridor Options were published for the scheme in November 2019. The Project Team has undertaken an appraisal of the Six Route Corridor Options and identified the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor.

Details of the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor will be published at 6pm on Monday the 14th December 2020 on the project website www.N61Roscommon.ie.  Details will also be published through local media and social media. A third period of non-statutory public consultation seeking feedback on the ‘Emerging Preferred Route Corridor’ will begin on Monday, the 14th December 2020 and will run until the 29th January 2021.

Registered landowners who have land/property within the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor will receive an information pack by post on or after the 15th December 2020. The information pack will contain maps of the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor, details of the selection process, details of the consultation process and a feedback form. An information leaflet will be delivered to properties within/relative to the other 5 corridors on or after the 15th December 2020 advising them that the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor has been identified and the public consultation process has commenced.

Public Consultation Format

The current COVID-19 restrictions prohibit the holding of public events or in-person meetings, the project website will host an online consultation experience which will be available to view from 6pm on the 14th December at www.N61Roscommon.ie. This online public consultation experience will allow stakeholders and the public to view maps, project information and express their opinion in a safe and accessible environment. Should the COVID-19 restrictions change in the coming weeks to permit for in-person meetings by appointment, RCC will advise of details through the project website.

The following options are available to anyone affected by the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor or who has an interest in the project to contact the Project Team;

  • Through the project website www.N61Roscommon.ie , you can book either an online video meeting using digital technologies (E.g. Microsoft Teams) or a telephone meeting.
  • Alternatively, you can contact 087 281 7589 to book either an online video meeting or a telephone meeting.
  • Email queries will be accepted throughout the consultation period (Email: N61BK@N61Roscommon.ie).

Bookings for both the online video meetings and telephone meetings can be made from the 15th December, with the meetings to take place weekdays, during normal working hours from the 4th January to the 29th January 2021.

For anyone who has not access to online information, details of the Emerging Preferred Route Corridor will be on display for external viewing in Áras an Chontae, Roscommon Town, from the 14th December.

A online feedback form can be submitted through the online public consultation experience on the project website, or downloaded and submitted by email to N61BK@N61Roscommon.ie or by post.
