Roscommon County Council to join #ourcouncilday Twitter Campaign to Raise Awareness of Services

Roscommon County Council is taking part in the #ourcouncilday Twitter campaign today, Tuesday, 10th April, to increase engagement with the public and to raise awareness of the services provided.

Members of the public are encouraged to join in and talk to us about the services provided to your community using the hashtags #ourcouncilday or #ÁrLáSaChomhairle.

Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Cllr Orla Leyden, said; “Roscommon County Council is actively engaging in Twitter and other social media to improve communication and increase civic engagement. Since July 2017 we are also live streaming all Plenary Meetings of Roscommon County Council – the combination of Twitter, Social Media and live streaming has enhanced local government in Roscommon”  

The 2017 campaign was a success with a total of 1,481 accounts that contribute to over 5,000 tweets. Local services such as transportation, housing, arts, heritage, the library services, fire service, civil defence plus many other aspects of the council were highlighted on the day.
